2023
Valorization of Waste Flows:
Dye and print samples on wool and cotton. Dyed with iron, onions, and modifiers. Produced and presented halfway through the collaboration period.

In late 2023, I responded to fashion brand Hul le Kes’ prompt for collaboration:

“You: an emerging maker with an interest in material research and a fresh perspective on the fashion system – will research how available knowledge can be further expanded. The label currently works with flows that arose from internal needs, and would like to work with an external maker (of any discipline) to investigate potential options that are scalable or feasible. Improvements that fit with the company’s social values are also welcome.”

After being selected, they hosted me as an in-house natural dye experimenter in their studio in Arnhem two times per week for four months. I worked with the designers and the production team. They gave me prompts and I gave them solutions in the form of textile experiments using waste as much as possible.

This collaboration was supported by Stimulering Fonds under the Building Talent grant scheme.
